Update: I have spent the better part of four hours today trying to find the correct connecting pipes. I have had to give up, as specialist suppliers are not available over Easter. Shaune Reid may have to come in tomorrow or send one of his contractors. The cost to me will be well over R1 000. The loss of time, over a working day. All because of casual theft, which netted the thieves a few rand in scrap metal.
It is exceptionally frustrating to be in the midst of this kind of nonsense. And, quite honestly, we have not even begun.
Original post: Unfortunately, as we all know, once construction/earthworks start, theft and vandalism are the order of the day.
So our one section of electric fence has been totally destroyed, shredded to ribbons. I am off to buy ferrules and fix.
All of our taps were stolen and the pipes left protruding from the ground like Cyclops.
And our borehole, which we share with Intaprop, was vandalised, the connecting pipe ripped out presumably for scrap metal and the compression tank thrown to one side.
Sarel of Intaprop/Elphick has committed to replacing the taps, but this is such a waste of time and effort, and it will carry on for as long as there is construction.
The fact is that while we know it does and will happen, there's sweet buggerall we can do about it.
