Japan's tsunami, supermoon and global warming

I have been asked by countless people if the three can be linked. This is because of my interest across the three areas of the tsunami, astronomy and climate change. The brief answer is no and no. Japan sits on a subduction zone, which makes it highly vulnerable to earthquakes. The moon could affect earthquakes as much as planets affect astrology, and any potential impact of global warming on ice melt which then relieves pressure on tectonic plates would be too far away to affect Japan. The fact is all faults in the crust render the areas around them liable to damage such as we have seen, and as populous a nation as Japan was always likely to suffer an earthquake of this magnitude. There are far worse ones coming, and mankind must brace itself for some serious stuff in the next decade.
