The water cascading down First Road would seem to have been the consequence of damage or other issues arising from Elphick Earthworks' work on the corner of Clifford and Hilton. See the pic. Also see the attempt to close the leak. I took this pic on the way to taking my son to the Spur. When we returned, the water was no longer gushing, and Joburg Water was on site. I have no idea who pays for the wasted water, but collateral damage is a byproduct of construction, unfortunately. It was, I have to say, a most unpleasant experience driving around the southern quadrant of Linbro yesterday, roads were significantly damaged, and all of us would hope this is a one-off. I will ensure Intaprop sees this post.
Final lesson: lean on Intaprop, Elphick and Joburg Water. Everyone affected, call repeatedly. When I drove out to the Spur, the water was pouring out and there was only one worker, sitting on an earth mound, looking at the water. The more we call, the more strident we become, the more we follow processes and work within structures, the faster issues are resolved. Yesterday it took 12 hours, which is a lot of wasted water and damage to roads.
